Monsters will be visible on the map, therefore allowing players to either avoid encountering monsters, or to engage in battle. Monsters are essential to a character's leveling experience.

Once the player has engaged in battle, players can fight with two characters at the same time and alternate between them. The main character, Lucian, will always be the melee attacker, while the second character, Jericho, Athalia or Solonna, is the support character. The choice of the support character depends on the circumstance of the battle. For example, if Lucian fights one-on-one with a boss, then it is best that the player uses Athalia for the most part of the battle so that Lucian defeats the boss easier. If Lucian faces numerous monsters, then using Jericho or Solonna is advisable.

It is important to remember that each support character has a certain amount of energy that should be revitalized often (this is done by alternating the characters).
